August 25, 1973 is a day that I’ll never forget. That’s the day that my father died. It’s also the day that I became the president of my father’s business. At the ripe old age of 20, I was suddenly in charge of, and responsible for, five employees – and all of them were older than me!
Circumstances beyond my control thrust me into leadership at an early age. There were a lot of things that I didn’t know back then. As I jumped into the business, I made a conscious decision to constantly learn and improve. I also realized that leadership is important, and that my leadership of Albert Moving and Storage would be critical to its success.
I spent decades growing our small moving and storage business, while concurrently starting-up 12 other businesses and operating units. Eventually, our business grew to employ over 150 people. Along the way, I learned plenty about how to lead (and also how not to lead).
After selling our company, I now have the time and opportunity to share with you the insights that I've had while starting, growing and leading multiple businesses.

My plan is to add new content to this blog a couple of times a week. My purpose is to influence leaders – and those who aspire to be leaders.
